    Rabbi Ari Yablok, M.S.W.

As the son of two experienced educators from Teaneck, New Jersey, I was raised on the principles of hard work, honesty, respect, and unconditional love. My parents taught me to care about my grades, but to care even more about my character. From their example I learned that improving the lives of others is the greatest good I can possibly do. That is why I became a clinical therapist.

Upon making Aaliyah in 2009 with my wife, I dedicated myself to helping the English-speaking community of central Israel. I lived with and cared for a campus of overseas college students, became the rabbinic leader of hundreds of young olim, organized dozens of community events, counseled countless young couples, and much more. Through these experiences I became intimately aware of the complex psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual challenges that many English speakers in Israel encounter every single day.

I created Present Tense Therapy for one reason; to make personal and professional counseling services easily accessible to the English speaking community of Central Israel.

My clients find that my "down-to-earth personality and easy going temperament" allow me to instantly connect with them. They like how they "don't feel like they are speaking to a therapist" but are still "gaining real tools to improve their life right away".

“The true definition of mental illness is when the majority of your time is spent in the past or future, but rarely living in the realism of NOW.”

    - Shannon Alder

    Individual counseling and therapy

My rule when it comes to individual counseling is that there is no rule. Each client is their own world, and they are treated with individual, unique care, My goal is to work alongside my clients to create a practical plan that will yield real, tangible results. No matter how you enter, you will leave with a healthier mind and spirit.

    Couples and relationship counseling

Seeking guidance and support in one the most intimate and personal areas of your life is a delicate and sensitive matter. Getting the help you need to repair a relationship requires finding someone who understands you and can guide you in the right direction. I firmly believe the best way to repair a relationship is to strengthen the individuals within it, focus on the core values that the relationship is based on, strengthen communication skills, and eliminate obstacles that get in the way.

    Religious guidance and life coaching

For some, living in Israel is considered a fulfillment of their spiritual destiny. But even in Israel, one can still be frustrated by difficult questions about God, religious observance, and one's individual purpose on this earth.
As a mental health professional with rabbinical ordination, I combine these two important fields to guide people of all ages and backgrounds along their spiritual journey. I keep an open mind and an open heart, and bring many years of spiritual guidance to every session. No question is inappropriate, no dilemma is unworthy of being explored.
